Talbina Sunnah al-Nabawiyyah is a specific type of talbina that is popular in Medina, Saudi Arabia. It is famous for being served during the time of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), hence the name Talbina al-Nabawiyyah. Talbina al-Nabawiyyah is considered part of the Arab-Islamic food heritage.
How to prepare
Ingredients of the prophetic talbina
You need the following ingredients:
3 tablespoons whole grain unsifted barley flour
3 cups coconut milk, or any type of milk available
Three tablespoons of honey
A pinch of vanilla or ground cinnamon
Nuts and cardamom for garnish as desired
To prepare the recipe, pay attention to the following steps:
Place the barley flour in a saucepan, add the milk, and stir well over medium heat.
Add a pinch of vanilla or cinnamon to the pot, and leave on the stove for 10-15 minutes, stirring constantly.
Add honey to the pot and stir well with the mixture.
Pour the talbina into small bowls, and garnish with nuts, cardamom and honey as desired.
If it is noticed during the preparation of the talbina that it is solid, more milk can be added, as the types of barley differ from each other in their ability to absorb liquids.
